The Unique Selling Proposition (also Unique Selling Point) is a marketing concept that was first proposed as a theory to explain a pattern among successful advertising campaigns of the early 1940s. It states that such campaigns made unique propositions to the customer and that this convinced them to switch brands. Today the term is used in other fields or just casually to refer to any aspect of an object that differentiates it from similar objects.

So what is your USP? Don’t start your business until you know your USP.

You may not wish to employ people - but the Internet offers you an extensive resource for people skills? Such sites as eLance can help enormously. You can use the skill sets of other people as an invaluable resource.

For example, you might not be a good graphic designer but need a company logo. Sub-contract the work through eLance or similar - you will be surprised how little it costs!

One of the most important factors is being successful is COMMUNICATION. You have to sell your product or service - presentation, copywriting, etc…. You need distinguish yourself from the pack - why should somebody buy from you?

Why did you click on the photo? What attracted you!! Photos can pull you in and sell so use photos as a call to action and get attention.

There are many libraries available which offer royalty free photos - such as wikipedia - so there is no excuse not to use photos / images to enhance your marketing message.
